The Kingdom of Peace

The aspiration for peace, is one that has been part of humanity since the beginning. The realization of war, and the consciousness of the tragedy of the human condition, has maintained within the human heart, the desire for rest, for peace, for reconciliation and tranquility. The season of advent for all its apocalyptic orientation, is once that announces in its concern for the end, a new beginning, a new order of life, found in fact, in the birth of the Child Jesus. For many, Christmas figures thus, as an opportunity to realize the human dream for peace, for a nobility of sentiment that certainly seeks the reconciliation of the human community affected by conflict, discord, and disunity. The modern world, for all its humanism, has inherited much of its universality, from such the theological conception of history of the Christian message evidenced by the fact, that, the theory of progress is in fact, a veiled and disguised attempt to replace the spiritual progression of history towards the Last Judgement, to a temporal hope for the final form of human civilization.

Advent, uniquely participates, of the prophetic charism of the Catholic Church. A reminder, in fact, that, the unity of humanity is announced behind its apocalyptic warfare and the catastrophic cataclysms of nature; from the chaos of a supernatural war, is announced the new order of life: A Kingdom of Peace, where Christ reigns universally in human hearts. The Second Coming of Christ, is essentially, found in the suspension of the natural laws, the tribulation of the cosmic powers, the Judgement of a humanity in distress, in order to announce times of peace and the renovation of human civilization towards, in fact, true progress: spiritual maturity and the reconciliation of man with God, man with man, and of man with nature.

At every age, prophecy guides man, in order to illuminate his path towards Eternity, but also, indicate for the present, the road to follow towards his ultimate destiny. To this day, the apparitions of Fatima, stand foremost, as a reminder of the possibility of true peace and of the purpose of history, for a power that changes the world for the better, and that contributes, to the formation of a civilization of love, that is, of peace. In her message to the children, Our Lady made it certain that the conquest of communism and its triumph by Roman Catholicism stands as the test that finally brings Peace to the world, that is, an Era of Peace:

“The moment has come in which God asks the Holy Father to make, and to order that in union with him and at the same time, all the bishops of the world make the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart.” (Frère Michel, The Whole Truth About Fatima, vol. II, p. 555).

There is at present, debate concerning as to whether St. Pope John Paul II actually complied to Our Lady’s request on October 8th 1984. It is possible, at the least, that the partial consecration, contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union in 1990, 6 years after the Pope’s consecration.

There are, however, additional prophetic utterances of Our Lady, that reveal the importance of Russia’s consecration to the Immaculate Heart, unveiling in fact, the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

“God is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the Communions of reparation and for the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart … In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me, which will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.”

The tangent of history, thus, is the dissemination of the Marxist ethos, the Communist gospel that is atheism of intellect, and materialism of history; in fact, it denies history by the negation of the Divine Providence, the divine economy at work in the process of humanity, for a dialectic that poses a materialist tension and an economic war, as the reasons that explain human history. The only force, capable, of operating the defeat and the conquest of the Dragon of Communism, is the Catholic Church of Rome. It is incumbent, therefore, for the Catholic faithful, to live according to the message of Fatima, and pray for the restoration of culture beyond the limited confines of totalitarianism.

In anticipation of Christmas, the Christian is armed with a certain dread, a fear for the conflagration of all things, that seems to justify the supernatural war and reveal the fact that, peace is made possible, only when human culture is able to unite faith with life, forming civilization, as a community of peace, where humanism subsists and culture is conceived, as an artistic activity.

History, remains a mystery to man. He lives in the temporal existence, as one who contemplates the present moment from his limited perspective, and who, in fact, conceives the future only in terms of a certain anxiety, a worry that in the post-industrial society, is neurotic, for it is regulated by technology. In anticipation of the coming of Christ at Christmas, man elevates once again, his spirit, to the eternal, beyond the strife of the temporal condition, and finds the vision, the dream that arms existence with the reasons of the Divine Providence, assuring the human person, of continued Paternity and of the certainty that, there is purpose to history, there is a certain movement towards peace, that is actualized, only if man surrenders his faculties, his soul, his person, and his nature to the loving care of a Mother, and the beneficence of a Father. In the final analysis, the family as a social unit, remains the cell of society, the primary church, from which emerges the hope that unites humanity and that operates the salvation of those elements of the human race, that are still alive in their beings.

The Apparitions of Fatima, are a reminder that, history is not in the hands of political power, but rather, in the agency of supernatural power; it is a reminder, that, the spiritual maturity of humanity is the necessary development that finally realizes the deepest aspirations of the human heart: the Era of Peace.
