The conception of the good as art

The conception of the good as art is the adoption of an aesthetic, an attitude towards life that conceives art as the measure of reason whose end is the good. Culture benefits from this point because art is inherently beautiful, and a culture that is art partakes of the nature of harmony. Art is harmony of nature, a balance of contraries that finally contributes to happiness. A society that is artistic recognizes the common good as beauty, as the final end of the social action of the human person. Only by conceiving cultural life as artistic activity is it possible to transcend the category of the individual interest for the end of the common good. From the preceding elements, a vision is formed that recognizes the necessity of the collaboration with nature in the erection of the edifice of civilization, comprehended as a historical organism that evolves over the ages.
